ZomBeads is a socially conscious, community-driven business that believes in Mardi Gras ReMade in New Orleans.
Our local lines of products are made exclusively through partnership with artists and manufacturers in the Gulf Coast region, especially the Greater New Orleans area. We execute protective agreements to purchase designs from our artisan partners to ensure they are fairly compensated for their intellectual property. Our products are made from locally sourced and recycled materials. These factors all combine to support the local economy, create jobs in the region and highlight the cultural traditions that are so strong in our communities.
We also recognize that we live in a global economy, and that it is our responsibility to demand more from our partners abroad. Through our work with non-profits working around the world, we offer a line of beads that are produced by independently owned businesses that are designed to give power and economic independence to women living in poverty around the world. These are made 262% above the Fair Wage Guide Minimum.
Profits from ZomBeads go to support the work of the local environmental and social justice non-profit organization, the Louisiana Bucket Brigade. Through our work with them, we hope to reduce our cultural dependency on the petrochemical industry while simultaneously celebrating the unique history and culture of Carnival, Mardi Gras, and the amazing spirit of the region.
